guess what used to be here?
a slanty brick sidewalk that was almost deadly in the winter. apparently, whomever installed it didn’t realize they were locating it 1/2 over the backfill to the sewer line. so, that soil compacted, and the entire thing sloped to a dangerous degree. it’s probably been like that since it was installed, in 1966 (carrie found a quarter under the sidewalk!).

one more weekend and it should all be gone. we found a home for the used brick via craigslist.org — one of our neighbors will be making a patio out of it.
